New Distribution Center In Rotterdam
On June 13, 2008, Brenntag officially opened a new site in the “Chemiehaven” port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in the presence of numerous guests.

"Thanks to the efficient set-up and the flexibility created through the connection with the Vopak terminal, this new site will support the further development of Brenntag in the Netherlands in terms of the distribution of solvents and chemicals as well as our service and quality for customers and suppliers," said Steve Holland, Chief Executive Brenntag Europe, at the opening. At the new facility, which replaces the former location opposite of the Chemiehaven, Brenntag will store, handle and distribute a broad range of bulk and packed solvents and other products. The new facility features an ultra-modern area for loading solvents into trucks. Drums are filled at one of the drum-filling stations, automatically palletized and subsequently transported to a warehouse for storage. Another warehouse was built to store packed products. Both warehouses have a capacity of 6,300 pallets each. The site also has extensive mixing and blending facilities and a new office building. The new facilities comply with the strictest regulations and guidelines regarding safety, health and environment (SHE). More than 30% of the total investment was earmarked for SHE expenditures. The new site is built on an area of 30,000 m² adjacent to the Vopak terminal, together with which Brenntag has developed an innovative and efficient integration of the new facilities: Solvents are stored in Brenntag’s own underground tanks of 50 m³ each as well as in high-volume tanks of 800 m³ to 1200 m³ at the Vopak site. The two sites are connected via pipeline, which allows Brenntag to handle the products at its own site. "Also other partners can take advantage of this cooperation; for example by storing their products at Vopak and using the Brenntag facilities for handling and distribution," says Carl Blomme, Managing Director Brenntag Benelux.
