Steve Holland, Chief Executive Brenntag Europe, says:"With Dipol Chemical International as our partner, Brenntag takes a further important step in strengthening the distribution network in Central and Eastern Europe. We would like to extend a warm welcome to both employees and management of Dipol." Founded as a chemical consulting company in the US in 1994, Dipol is now a leading distributor of polymers and specialty chemicals in the Ukraine, Russia and the Baltic states and also provides services in Belarus and Moldavia. The company posted external sales of US$ 100 million in 2007. Dipol operates a well-established distribution network via offices and warehouses in Kiev, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Riga and acts as a distributor for such renowned companies as Arkema, Clariant, DOW, DSM, DuPont, Huntsman, Ineos and Ineos Nova. The Kiev site is ISO 9001:2000 certified. Dipol supplies a variety of industries, typically as a single-source supplier. Helmut Struger, Managing Director Brenntag CEE GmbH, says: "The acquisition enables Brenntag to enter the market in the Ukraine and substantially increases our presence in Russia. We see huge potential in this area and want to participate in the growth of this region. Furthermore this cooperation is an ideal foothold to enhance Brenntag’s attractiveness for suppliers and customers in fields such as food, cosmetics, construction, paint & varnish, automotive and oil & gas. We are very excited about this acquisition and we are looking forward to future development." Dipol estimates demand for polymers in the Ukraine alone at 850,000 tons per year with above-average growth rates. The majority of specialty polymers for the booming construction, automobile, packaging and household goods industries there are imported, primarily from Western Europe. The upcoming UEFA Euro 2012 soccer championships to be held in the Ukraine and Poland are additionally stimulating market demand. These are excellent starting conditions for the distributor Dipol, which like Brenntag is well-known among its suppliers and customers for outstanding consulting services and expertise.
