Germany At the suggestion of truck fleet managers, Brenntag GmbH sponsored a safety course for truck drivers in November 2007. The course was organized by a road traffic vocational training center based in Nordhausen and took place at a training facility in Obermehler. Andreas Frank, head of logistics in Germany, comments, "The goal of this training was to increase drivers’ awareness of dangerous situations on the road and for drivers to experience and recognize their own limits." Participation was mandatory for Air1™ tank truck drivers and voluntary for all others. Interest in the program was so great that an additional two courses have been held, one in Obermehler and another in Eisenach. The program involved a theoretical section and a considerable amount of practice, under the watchful eye of two certified driving trainers. Behind the wheel of a special tip-resistant tank vehicle with stabilizing equipment, the professional Brenntag drivers were able to experience how quickly the limits of stability were reached, even at low speeds of only 20 to 50 kilometers per hour.
