This means Yara fulfills the conditions imposed by the European Union for approval of the acquisition of Kemira GrowHow Oy, a Finnish manufacturer of fertilizers and industrial chemicals. Brenntag will take over industrial sales of ammonium nitrate solution, aqueous ammonia and weak nitric acid in Köping as well as ammonium nitrate solution, aqueous ammonia, and weak and concentrated nitric acid in Tertre. These products are used as raw materials or intermediates in a variety of chemical applications, including plastics and fine chemicals. They are also employed in the manufacture of non-military explosives and to reduce nitrogen oxides in power plants, combustion facilities and the glass industry. Brenntag Nordic took over responsibility for activities in Köping in early June 2008, while the Tertre site has belonged to Brenntag NV, Belgium since July 1. In both cases, the purchase package included the related loading and distribution facilities. The new sites are located in the middle of important industrial countries, allowing Brenntag to secure significant markets in the Benelux countries, France, Germany, Sweden and Northern Europe.

"With the acquired business Brenntag Nordic will strengthen its leading position and become even more competitive in serving their customers," says Michael Pieters, Managing Director Brenntag Nordic. Pierre Claeys, Sales and Marketing Manager Distribution, Brenntag NV, comments: "We supply our customers throughout Europe via truck and rail and offer additional interesting synergies with respect to the existing Brenntag product portfolio." Steve Holland, Chief Executive Brenntag Europe, adds: "We are proud of the addition of the activities in Sweden and Belgium to our international network and look forward to strengthening and growing the businesses of our customers with the unique service Brenntag provides."
