Coastal Chemical has enjoyed tremendous growth in the past 50 years, culminating in record sales and profitability in 2008. The company recently announced the opening of its fourteenth full-service warehouse and distribution center in the Barnett Shale, near Fort Worth, Texas. Coastal was recognized by ExxonMobil as its United States Lubricant Distributor of the Year for 2007. A large group of current and retired employees as well as a number of officials from the city of Abbeville and the state of Louisiana were in attendance. Joining Coastal Chemical’s current president, Randy King, at the head table were two men who played a key role in Coastal’s founding and growth: Revis Sirmon and Jim Doyle. Revis Sirmon founded Coastal Chemical in August 1958. After many years of experience in the oil fields, Sirmon accurately anticipated an expanding market for chemicals, materials handling, distribution services and applications technologies. Jim Doyle served as president of Coastal Chemical from 1979 to 2001 and currently holds the position of Executive Vice President of Brenntag North America. Coastal was sold to Holland Chemical in 1997, and later became a member of the Brenntag group as part of the HCI acquisition in 2000. Contact: Craig Sorensen csorensen@brenntag.com
