While Yvonne Kleinheidt, Caroline Kruppa and Markus Flaspöhler were awarded second-class honors, Andreas Kroll went one better with first-class honors. Having completed the traineeship, Andreas Kroll continued his Business Management studies while working as a student in Brenntag Management’s Corporate Communications department. Brenntag provided all those sitting exams with job-specific instruction, assistance in exam preparation and training in rhetoric. Every year, Brenntag GmbH takes on 20 or so new trainees all over Germany, primarily in commercial areas relating to wholesaling and exporting, as well as warehousing and warehousing logistics. Of these, five young people begin their two-year commercial training in wholesaling and exporting at Brenntag’s headquarters in Mülheim. In the course of this training, they will spend 3-4 months in the following departments and areas: “Specialty Chemicals”, “Food & Health” (with Sales, Product Management and Planning), “Procurement of Industrial Chemicals”, “Sales of Industrial Chemicals” (including time spent at the Duisburg subsidiary), “Purchasing/Technology/Safety”, “Accounting”, “IT”, “Corporate Communications” and “HR”. The majority of trainees are taken on after the program and can look forward to good career prospects at Brenntag. Jens Ettwig, from the Human Resources department at Brenntag GmbH: “There are quite a few examples of former trainees who now hold managerial positions at our locations or headquarters, for example as Location Managers, Sales Managers, Group Heads of Procurement, Key Account Managers or Product Managers.
